Gone CAMPING!

Did the word camping just come out of my mouth?

Never did I think I would be telling Mini Me to pack her bag and hygiene kit to go camping!  That just happened!  I am taking Mini Me on a two-day camping excursion just so we can spend some time together and get away from it all.  I have been so busy with work, working ridiculous hours, and Mini Me has been busy with her first year of high school and is realizing she is definitely not in middle school any longer.

Unfortunately for me we arrived in at our campsite at night! No biggie!  Thank God for lanterns and head lamps!

I am grateful for two things:  The fact that I was an Air Base Defense Instructor and learned how to put up a tent and the fact that this tent came with really easy instructions!

We have our tent, our cooking utensils, the necessary food and beverages, alcoholic kind included of course, and our bug spray, the most important of all camping essentials and my make-up kit.   Breakfast consisted of a bacon, egg and potato combo with fruit, toast and apple jelly.

After breakfast we headed out for a serious work out to enjoy God’s wonderful creations.  I am proud to say we completed a 4.5 hour hike!

What better way to relax and enjoy what we have than to take it all in while you are near death due to an intense workout.  I am proud to say I am still alive to talk about it after seeing multiple deer and yes…wait for it…BEARS!  Oh, and yeap, that is Mini Me jumping in an ice cold spring!

Chilly but perfect weather all weekend!

Being a city girl, I never thought I would turn to camping as a way out to relax and reset.  I have been a few times over the course of my life and recently have a newfound enjoyment in it.

Our neighbors… LOL! This is an actual van you can rent to go camping.  If the van is a rockin, don’t come ah knockin!  No seriously, they were remarkably quiet.  I expected Cheech and Chong to come out of this comedic vessel and instead it was some nerdy kid and his beautiful runway model girlfriend.

All in all we had an amazing weekend of laughs, relaxation, and fun times!  We are moving to AK soon and I am sure this was just a glimpse of what will be in store!

XOXO Besos,

Anna Castillo
