Italian Magic at the Harbor!
It took me a mad minute to get this post out based on this week’s previous chaos! As you read through our blog, you will understand exactly what I’m talking about.
I would be remised if I did not take the time to share my dining experience at Fiorella’s Italian Kitchen in the National Harbor, MD. My BFF and I went there about two weeks ago on a whim, just looking for something relaxing and easy to share our week’s stressors and share some time together. What we experienced was probably the best Italian food I have had in a very long time.
We started with fried Mozzarella balls covered in a thick tomato sauce served in their own picturesque silver tray. Cooked in the massive brick oven, the appetizer was perfect. To compliment the appetizer we indulged in a tall glass of their sweet red wine which absolutely hit the spot after a long week.
For the main course we both decided on Margherita Pizzas. We were lucky enough to sit by the kitchen area we were able to observe the pizzas being made and the process within the magical oven! This thin-crusted work of art was mouth watering, and the hand tossed tomatoes in basil and oil topped this succulent treat. When the food made it to the table, we were speechless.
We went back and took my daughter and her friend. Another round of pizzas and the tomato/mozzarella salad sealed the deal.
I have to mention this… I made sure to sit near the oven area again so Mini could watch all the action. Behind the counter was a young cook who was trying to keep things moving, and at the same time you had Chef Outtara orchestrating his troops. All in an effort to ensure the guests received a deliciously mouthgasmic experience. Well, things happen, and of course in every busy kitchen you have accidents. James missed the mark and a hot plate of food slammed to the floor. Now, I was completely surprised with the Chef’s reaction. Instead of flipping out and loosing his cool, Chef Outtara explained what caused the accident. Then, he went behind the open cooking area and showed James exactly what to do in order to prevent future mishaps. I immediately congratulated Chef Outtara and explained how I was grateful he was so professional and took the time even on that busy evening to show James the problem along with the solution and help continue to complete/strengthen their mission.
Ladies and gentleman, if you are in or around the National Harbor area please put this on your list of placed to try. Fiorella’s will now be our regular go-to dinner location where the food is satisfying, the staff aims to please, and the management truly cares. The wait staff was quick and professional and every one of them had a smile and a great attitude.
Thank you to Mark the GM, Al the Asst. GM, Executive Chef Outtara, Pizza God Dion, and newest Pizza Chef, James.
