This weekend I decided to go for “no plan down time.” This meant, I went wherever my heart desired. I started it off by chilling at the lake house Friday night with a little paint, canvas, and “Peanuts.” My Mini Me, aka OLIVIA, is trying something new for mediation and mental well-being…she is painting, which of course has caused me to go into full-blown supportive mode. So, I decided to try a little myself. You would be amazed how therapeutic this actually is. It takes more concentration than you think. Honestly it slowed my ADHD mind WAY down. I loved it! At the top you will see my version of a Tom Everhart painting. Still a work in progress on the Snoopy nose, but not bad for one of my first attempts.
This one is by far one of my favorites! It’s me…. conquering the world with my endless drive and imagination. LOL!
Saturday was like 80 days in 1! I contacted my bestie “JDubs” and asked him to come for a ride to….wherever my car ended up. He is recently divorced and is on a mission to completely revamp his pad. Starting fresh and new! Cleansing all the negative out of his past life and jumping straight into endless positive possibilities.
We were on the hunt for some treasures and ended up at the local Salvation Army. No big finds this time, but we both left with some pretty cool stuff.
He scored a tray to use as an ash tray for his cigars and mini tea cups for tea candle holders. All for only $6.00! BIG SPENDER!
I on the other hand, went for some new glass salad plates and a tray for my tea set. All for $10.00. SWEET!
Next, we had to stop by my favorite spiritual store in Old Town. I am absolutely in love with their essential body oils. My new signature scent, “Tilak” oil. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! JDubs has decided to dedicate one of his rooms to mediation. He couldn’t help but pick up one of the banners as his first inspiration.
Thanks to JDubs, I found a new mediation journal at the adjacent store. I never noticed it before. AMAZING! The store is run only by volunteers and local artists. Everything is handmade from all over the world! A treasure spot for me for sure! GOING BACK ASAP!
Now… off to our next location. Well, I had to take him to my all-time favorite market! I can’t believe he hadn’t been there before. For those of you in and around the DC area, please take time to support your local artists and vendors at the Eastern Market! So worth it! I was able to pick up a new singing bowl, my flowers for “Fresh Flowers Sunday” (posting a story on that soon), and some fresh fruit and veggies! DELICIOSO!
Wait! The fun didn’t stop there! After I yanked him away from the terry cloth towel lady… we freaked out and wondered if we spent too much time in this area. I was so worried about getting a ticket. Parking sucks! What was I thinking? This guy wasn’t checking any meters! GOODNESS!
On the way out we admired DC’s finest Fashionistas! Gotta love it! You betta WURK!
Okay, enough! The afternoon was done and we were starving! So why not hit a jazz bar for a drink, appetizer, and amazing tunes?
Lights dim, music blaring, and this guy just sitting, tapping his foot, and writing what I dreamed and hoped to be a love story!
Doesn’t he look like an author?
Now for the next spot! So, We ran across a strip of “cultural” stores. I mean these places had everything! I was scared to move!
I did purchase a decorative rug from India and a small Indian satchel for my iPad. Couldn’t bring myself to indulge in anything else. Maybe next time?
A few stores down I snatched some trendy Tibetan rings. Fun and unique! Plan on heading back to this spot for some silk fashions at a later date.
We ended the night with tea, a hookah, and a slice of JUMBO pizza! Then sat in my parked car with the windows down enjoying the breeze and some “street beats” by these two young kids playing nothing but bucket drums and a mini electric guitar.
